Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” Takes to Ice

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Giant rats and sugar plum fairies lace up their skates, not their ballet slippers, for the Sunday, Dec. 17 “Nutcracker on Ice Holiday Show” at ESL Sports Centre. In true holiday spirit, a portion of the profits will benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

The show begins at 2:30 p.m. and stars more than 60 skaters, ranging from local 3-year-old beginners at the ESL’s skating school to high-lever skaters recruited from Buffalo, Syracuse and Ithaca.

The performance will be held in ESL Sports Centre’s Main Arena, 2700 Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road. Tickets can be ordered in advance ($8 per adult and $5 per child 8-years-old and under), or purchased at the door ($10 per adult and $7 per child). A 40 minute free skate with the cast will immediately follow the show for a participation fee of $5 per person (skate rental is an additional $3).

To order advance tickets, request more information or learn about volunteer opportunities, call Jill Mackey at (585) 424- 4625.
