New Pottery Painting, Mosaic and Glass Studio Helps Hospital

Monday, April 16, 2007

Mud About You, Penfield’s new pottery painting, glass-fusing and mosaic studio, will celebrate its Grand Opening Weekend, Friday, May 18 to Sunday, May 20, in charitable style by donating $1 from each purchase to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

Art and hors d’oeuvres mingle on Friday night, as Grand Opening Weekend kicks off with a wine and cheese pottery painting event. Guests will paint an item on “kids’ bisque,” a keepsake pottery piece to be glazed, fired and donated to the children at the hospital. Fun begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each, $10 of which will directly benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Saturday brings all-day family fun with balloons for the kids, special discount prices, a WARM 101.3 broadcast and more, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday follows with still more deals and another day of children’s hospital donations with each purchase, noon to 6 p.m.

Located at 1802A Penfield Road, behind the Dunkin Donuts store at Four Corners, Mud About You officially opens to the public tomorrow. The paint-your-own-pottery studio is the brainchild of Chuck Jones (former Mix 100.5 radio personality Chuck Kelley), and his wife, Rachel, of Walworth. Chuck also serves as co-chair of the children’s hospital’s community fundraising committee.
