Wilmot Social Worker to be Honored During Holtz Drive for Cure July 8

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

Carmen Signorino, L. M.S.W.

Breast cancer survivor Carmen Signorino, L.M.S.W.,  will be honored during the BMW Ultimate Drive for the Cure on Sunday, July 8, at John Holtz BMW in Henrietta. Signorino is an oncology social worker with the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Signorino will be recognized as the 2007 Local Hero during the event, which raises funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  Signorino was treated for breast cancer in 2004.

As an oncology social worker, her role is to support people with cancer through diagnosis, treatment and survival. Her professional experiences with patients helped her endure cancer care, often remembering what patients had told her at various points in their care.

The BMW Ultimate Drive for a Cure encourages people to test-drive a BMW vehicle and $1 will be donated to the Komen Foundation for every mile that people drive. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Drive encourages breast cancer survivors to create a caravan and travel throughout the community.

Signorino will participate in the Survivor Drive at 9 a.m.
