Festive fall fundraisers help kids at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong.
The next two weeks are chock-full of autumn charity endeavors that benefit local patients and families at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. Whether you’re a coffee nut, are looking for a crisp Saturday in the Southern Tier, or would love to commemorate harvest time by chancing at a year’s worth of free groceries, there’s something here for you.
Cozy up with coffee: Panera Bread’s bottomless mug
Caffeine junkies, heed this: starting Monday, Oct. 1, your purchase of a Panera stainless steel coffee mug – only $5 – is your free pass to enjoy unlimited coffee refills at any of Rochester’s area stores until December 31. Whenever you sip, be glad that $3 from the sale of each mug is donated to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. (Offer is good while supplies last.)
Soak in fall’s foliage: Horse and hound races, family fun
Horse-lovers, hound-lovers, your trip to this year’s Genesee Valley Hunt Races will support both Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong and the Genesee Valley Rotary.
Held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, just off Nations Road in Geneseo, the day of races celebrates a 79-year tradition of horse racing, canine events and family fun, all in a valley back-lit by autumn’s orange and gold. The event boasts nearly a dozen horse races (ranging from junior flat races to jumping races featuring world-class steeplechase thoroughbreds), special canine events (including “Weiner dog” races for Daschunds, sheepherding demos and dog agility courses), and free events for children, including pony rides, horse drawn wagon rides and competitions for kid jockeys (riding stick horses).
Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate on race day. Children 12 years old and younger are admitted free. To buy yours, call (585) 243-3949; for more information, visit www.geneseevalleyhunt.org/Races.htm.
Celebrate harvest: Win free groceries for a year
Smart shoppers, here’s a way to save big on your next 52 grocery trips: Sunday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 13, TOPS Markets will offer you the chance to win free groceries for a year! To enter, visit any of the 20 Greater Rochester area TOPS or Martin’s Super Foods stores and make a dollar donation to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong at the register (or, visit Customer Service) to receive your official entry ticket.
