Wilmot Cancer Center Seeks Volunteers for Special Events

Thursday, July 31, 2008

The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center is recruiting volunteers to support its special events and fund-raisers and hosting an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The event will be at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Rochester Advancement and Alumni Center, 300 E. River Road (formerly St. Agnes School.) To attend, please call (585) 276-4717.

Volunteers are needed for the Special Events Committee, which helps organize and support many fund-raising events throughout the community to support cancer research and patient care.

The Gala Evening Sales Committee needs additional help to gather donations from area businesses to fill the signature Discovery Bags at the cancer center’s largest annual fundraiser, the Discovery Ball.

The Wilmot Cancer Center is the Finger Lakes leader in cancer care and research. With a team of more than 400 doctors, nurses, scientists and support staff, the center is dedicated to finding cures for cancer.
