Home Care 101 is Subject of Free Talk at The Highlands

Monday, September 29, 2008

A free program, Peace of Mind – Home Care 101, will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Hahnemann Club, 301 Stoutenburgh Lane, located on the campus of The Highlands at Pittsford, off of Rt. 31, just east of the village of Pittsford.

Did you know that a nurse can evaluate your health status in your home, assist with personal care, or provide you with transportation to and from an outpatient procedure? When the time comes, it is important to have answers to questions about home health care and available coverage options.

Ellen Avery, R.N., of the Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester (VNS), will offer information about home care and provide answers to participants. The program is provided by VNS, the original home health care provider in Monroe County with more than 80 years of experience caring for people in the comfort of their own homes.

Peace of Mind – Home Care 101 is fourth in the nine-part health and wellness series, To Your Health! presented by The Highlands at Pittsford and the University of Rochester Medical Center, to inspire and educate older adults about health issues specific to their needs. The programs are taught by URMC’s faculty of distinguished physicians and other providers affiliated with Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, the Eastman Dental Center, Visiting Nurse Service and other affiliates of the Medical Center.
