URMC Expert to Give Free Talk on Prevention and Treatment of Arthritis

Monday, September 29, 2008

C. McCollister Evarts, M.D., professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and of the Evarts Joint Center at Highland Hospital, will present a free talk on arthritis from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Hahnemann Club, 301 Stoutenburgh Lane, located on the campus of The Highlands at Pittsford.

Often considered inevitable as people age, recent advancements in arthritis can help to stave off and occasionally eliminate disability and pain. Evarts will focus on prevention as well as treatment of the disease, and also discuss treatment approaches including arthroplasty.

Arthritis in Major Joints – What Can be Done About It? is fifth in the nine-part health and wellness series presented by The Highlands at Pittsford and the University of Rochester Medical Center, to inspire and educate older adults about health issues specific to their needs. The programs are taught by URMC’s faculty of distinguished physicians and other providers affiliated with Strong Memorial Hospital Highland Hospital, the Eastman Dental Center, Visiting Nurse Service and other affiliates of the Medical Center.
