Toast to Your Health Fine Wine Auction Sets Out to Dazzle Taste Buds
Tuesday, November 04, 2008
Wine connoisseurs are invited to bid on a premier assortment of bottles at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s eighth annual Toast to Your Health Fine Wine Auction on Friday, Nov. 14. Wegmans is hosting the wine auction and providing the Wegmans Conference Facility as the setting for this black-tie event. Proceeds from the event go toward the improvement of asthma care and prevention in the Rochester region. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center will spearhead the community-wide effort that includes Golisano Children’s Hospital, Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital.
The fine wine auction, chaired by Dutch and Jayne Summers, begins with a wine tasting that promises to leave even the most refined palates in sheer bliss. Vintages from around the globe will be uncorked for this special occasion. These high-caliber wines range the gambit and last year, the event began attracting vintners. The evening’s five-course gourmet dinner will complement the decadent fine wines to send taste buds soaring.
Famed charity auctioneer David Reynoldswill host the highlight of the evening, a live auction. David Reynolds is known for his contagious, boundless energy – he once auctioned off two pizzas for $8,000! Many delectable prizes will be auctioned off at this year’s event.
Last year’s fine wine auction doubled the previous year’s earnings, raking in $1 million for Wilmot Cancer Center through the help of its sponsors and 420 attendees. Wine auction organizers hope to surpass last year’s record-breaking total to continue their support of programs throughout the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Tickets to the wine auction are $300 per person and will sell out. There are many sponsorship opportunities available and wine donations are sought. Other major sponsors include Constellation Brands and the Rochester Business Journal. For more information, please contact Irene Doktor at (585) 275-9827 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
