Picnic May 8th for Brain Tumor Survivors
Monday, April 14, 2003
Brain tumor survivors and their families, friends and medical staff will celebrate Brain Tumor Awareness Week with a picnic from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 8, at Brighton Town Park.
The event will include a picnic dinner, chair massages, music, juggling and other entertainment for children. It is sponsored by the University of Rochester Medical Center’s neurosurgery, pediatric oncology and radiation oncology departments.
Many in attendance at the picnic will be members of Brainstormers and the Adult Brain Tumor Network at Strong Memorial Hospital, which provide support for brain cancer survivors and their families.
Every year, more than 186,000 people will be diagnosed with brain tumors in the United States.
