Weekend BBQ Competitions Will Sizzle in Brockport

Jul. 28, 2010
Professional and backyard chefs show off and support patients at Wilmot Cancer Center

Professional and backyard barbecue chefs will face off in a series of delicious contests this weekend during the BBQ & Music Festival in conjunction with Brockport’s Summer Arts Festival. The taste-bud-tantalizing event, set for Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and Aug. 1, at SUNY Brockport, will support patient care programs at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center.

The festival, sponsored by Brockport Rotary Club, includes two days of grilling competitions,  along with a chili cook-off, children’s activities and performances by regional and local musicians. There will be cooking demonstrations as well.
The competitions are sanctioned by the Kansas City and New England barbecue societies and part of the Empire State BBQ Championship Series. There should be plenty of tasty dishes by colorful competitors such as Jacked Up BBQ, Big Man BBQ, First Alarm BBQ, 5 Hogs Front Porch BBQ, and Grillin’ Villains, just to name a few.

Admission is $3 and children under 12 are free. For more information, go to brockportbbqfest.com
