Celebrate a Heartfelt Event at Team Ali-Gaiters Clam Bake

Aug. 17, 2010

When Jackie Klube learned that her daughter Ali had a serious heart condition in 2003, she brought friends and family members together for support. The crew, dubbed Team Ali-Gaiters, began raising funds for the Children’s Heart Center at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center through the Stroll for Strong Kids in 2003. In 2004, they began holding the Team Ali-Gaiters Clam Bake, which celebrates its seventh year from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Honeoye Falls Fire Department Training Grounds at 7 Monroe Street in Honeoye Falls.
The team’s fundraising efforts became even more meaningful when Ali’s cousin, Nathan Brandow, was born with a serious heart condition and began visiting the Children’s Heart Center for treatment. Over the years, Team Ali-Gaiters has met and befriended many other families of children from the Children’s Heart Center and welcomed them in to offer emotional support and also to help give back.
This year’s event, held in honor of Ali and Nathan, will have an array of delicious food and drinks available to event-goers, including pulled pork, hot dogs, salads, desserts and beverages. A beer tent will be available, along with 50/50 raffles and live music from Alabye, the Hooligans, Refill and Saints of the Southern Tier. Kids will have plenty to keep them busy with activities and entertainment including a bouncy house, clowns and costumed characters.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door for adults. Tickets for teens 13 to 18 are $10 and free admission is available to children 12-years-old and younger. Tickets can be purchased in advance at American Hotel in Lima, Cosmo's in Honeoye Falls and FSI at 90 Goodway Road in Rochester. For more information, call (585) 624-4759.
