The Highlands at Pittsford Awarded Five-Year CARF Reaccreditation

The Highlands at Pittsford retirement community has earned its third five-year reaccreditation from CARF International. Founded as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services.

This designation is the highest level awarded by CARF, acknowledging that The Highlands at Pittsford adheres to internationally recognized service standards and best practices. Reaccreditation follows a rigorous peer-review process that demonstrates to a team of surveyors, during an on-site visit, that The Highlands’ programs and services are of the highest quality and that they are measurable and accountable.

The Highlands at Pittsford is a full-continuum of care community situated on a single campus just outside the village of Pittsford. It is an affiliate of The University of Rochester and provides an environment that offers each resident the opportunity to live at his or her highest personal level. The Highlands recently began construction on an expansion to support a health and wellness program unique to the area known as Project New Life. The program is based on the Seven Dimensions of Wellness, an approach endorsed by the International Council on Active Aging that encompasses emotional, intellectual, physical, vocational, social, spiritual and environmental wellness.
