Golisano Children's Hospital Gala Builds Hope for Future of Child Health
Wednesday, October 16, 2013
As the construction of our future children’s hospital makes incredible progress, it is only fitting that this year’s 26th annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala combines a building blocks theme with that of raising hope for the future of pediatric care. More than 750 elegantly dressed guests will fill the Rochester Riverside Convention Center at 6 pm., Oct. 19, for the hospital’s premier annual fundraising event.
The Gala is a special night where grateful parents, sponsors and local business owners gather under one roof to support sick and injured children in the Finger Lakes region. The evening will kick off with a cocktail hour and silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auction at 8 p.m.
The visuals of the night will compliment the theme of this year’s live auction’s fund-in-need – constructing a hopeful environment throughout the future children’s hospital.
Guests will raise their paddles left and right for the chance to help create the interior environment of rooms where patients and families will take respite in the future hospital. Enriching and interactive items, including bubble tubes, projected floor games, and colorful displays, will be auctioned off. Such animated and fun pieces will fill the children’s hospital playroom, school room, family lounges, the healthy eating dining room, and more.
The large role our community plays in supporting the new Golisano Children’s Hospital exemplifies hope and helps build the future of pediatric care, block by block, brick by brick, child by child.
This year’s honorary chair is Gary Mauro of J.T. Mauro Company. J.T. Mauro Co., majority owned by Gary and his brother, Michael, is a mechanical contracting company that has had a great impact on Golisano Children’s Hospital. The business provided complete mechanical systems for the children’s hospital’s PICU and PCICU, as well as the William and Mildred Levine Pediatric Surgical Suite projects. It also funded a PICU nurse’s station, has sponsored the Miracle Maker’s Luncheon since its inception, and Gary has played a role on the Gala and golf tournament committees for many years. Most recently, J.T. Mauro committed $150,000 to name the future Golisano Children’s Hospital’s atrium balcony.
The presenting sponsor of this year’s Gala isThe Cabot Group. Company owner, Mike Smith, has been a member of the children’s hospital board for three years. A 2010 Miracle Maker recipient for Outstanding Commitment by a Corporation, The Cabot Group has continuously stepped up to the plate, not only by recognizing the hospital’s needs, but by resolving to invest in the future care of our community’s children as well. This year’s Gala will mark the fifth time The Cabot Group has been presenting sponsor of the event. In 2008, the company committed to sponsoring the event for a total of 10 years.
