Hudson Hotels recognized by Strong Memorial volunteer organization
EconoLodge provides accommodations for organ transplant patients, families
Monday, October 13, 2003
Hudson Hotels will be honored Oct. 9 by the Friends of Strong volunteer organization for providing accommodations for organ transplant patients and their families. The Group Award is presented annually by the Friends of Strong to a group or business that has provided outstanding service to the patients at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The staff at Hudson Hotels’ EconoLodge, located on Jefferson Road, has been working with Strong Memorial’s Continuity of Care and Case Management/Social Work Department for several years to provide accommodations for organ transplant recipients and their families. These patients are typically from out of town and need long-term lodging. The EconoLodge offers low-cost rooms, as well as kitchen and living room facilities, for families. They also provide transportation to and from the hospital.
“The entire staff at the EconoLodge is involved in making the patients and families comfortable,” says Louise Criticos, Friends of Strong director. “Hudson Hotels has gone above and beyond, and its employees’ time and effort make a significant impact.”
In addition to the help it currently provides patients, a special fund-raiser for Strong Memorial’s Solid Organ Transplant Program is being planned for 2004 by Hudson Hotels.
Representatives from Hudson Hotels will accept the Group Award on Thursday night, Oct. 9, at the Friends of Strong Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
