UR Medicine Cardiologists Offer Free Heart Screenings Sept. 13 at Eastview Mall

UR Medicine cardiologists will offer free blood pressure and oxygenation screenings to help detect early signs of heart disease, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at Eastview Mall.  

Doctors and nurses will also demonstrate how the body’s blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels change and impact the body using “Sim Man,” a computerized mannequin designed for education. Participants will receive tips for improving their heart health

Cardiovascular disease tops the list of most serious health problems in the U.S. According to the American Heart Association, about one third of all Americans have some form of heart disease, including high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke and other conditions. By 2030, experts estimate that about 116 million people in the United States will have some form of cardiovascular disease.

People can reduce their risk by choosing a healthy diet, exercising, avoiding tobacco use and completing routine health check-ups.
