A 13-minute video produced by the department of nursing practice at Strong Memorial Hospital has earned its subjects national recognition. Entitled “Nursing: A Strong Force,” the video has earned a Telly Award in the Internal Service/Employee Communication category.
Filmed in May during National Nurses’ Week, the video features Strong nurses and reflects their dedication and commitment to quality patient care and excellence in nursing practice. Initially intended as a tool to reward achievements in patient care delivery and encourage nurses’ participation in national profession-advancement initiatives, the popular video is now taken to colleges, job fairs, open houses and other forums to illustrate the unique opportunities for nurses at Strong Memorial.
“This video effectively communicates the many positive aspects of being a nurse and practicing at Strong,” said Patricia Witzel, R.N., M.S., M.B.A., senior director for Nursing Practice at Strong Memorial Hospital. “This award is a credit to all those who invested time and ideas in creating this video.”
“This video sends a powerful message - it shows how proud nurses are of their profession, and to be working here at Strong,” said Stephanie Von Bacho, M.S., R.N., assistant coordinator for Nursing Education and Professional Development, who coordinated the video’s production with co-director Terri Scharfe-Pretino, M.B.A., R.N.
The video was developed in conjunction with Rose Films, Inc., a Rochester-based film and video production company that specializes in creating capital campaign films, fundraising programs, corporate image pieces and issue-oriented documentaries. Among its credits, Rose Films has won a Summit Creative Award for a video it produced for the Golisano Children’s Hospital, and has been a two-time Telly Award finalist for films created for Volunteer Connection and the University of Chicago Law School.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1980 to showcase and recognize outstanding non-network and cable TV commercials. The competition has since been expanded to include film and video productions. In the past 24 years, the Telly Awards has become a highly respected international competition, making the Telly one of the most sought-after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry. Over 11,000 entries are received each year.
