Event Benefits Patient-centered Care Initiatives at Strong Memorial Hospital
Celebrating a vintage 25th year, the Friends of Strong Gala Wine Tasting is set to swirl at the historic Monroe Golf Club, Friday, Feb. 12, from 7 to 10 p.m., in support of patient- and family-centered care initiatives at UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital.
The business-casual event will feature a selection of more than 150 local and international award-winning varietals chosen by premier sponsor, Century Liquor and Wines, paired together with delicious hors d’oeuvres, desserts, the smooth sounds of a live pianist, and dozens of donated Rochester area items up for bid.
Friends of Strong, the hospital’s volunteer and fundraising organization holds the annual Gala Wine Tasting in support of their mission to serve patients, families, and visitors with exceptional care. All proceeds from the event go directly toward funding much-needed equipment and programs, such as friendly volunteer faces, a patient resource library, wheelchairs, or safe-sleep infant swaddles for every baby born at Strong—all helping to create a happier healing environment for everyone.
Last year’s event helped raise more than $15,000 toward giving a total of nearly $975,000 to such patient care initiatives throughout Strong Hospital’s 40-plus departments and service areas.
“Financing these care-enhancing resources and programs wouldn’t be possible without the community’s continued support,” says Sandy Arbasak, director of Friends of Strong. “We simply can’t thank our volunteers, supporters, or friends enough for coming out to help us celebrate and fund excellence in patient care.”
