Monday, May 03, 2004
Louise Criticos, director of the Friends of Strong at Strong Memorial Hospital, will take over as president of the New York State Association of Directors of Volunteer Services in late May.
The organization has 285 members from throughout New York state who represent nursing homes, hospitals and other health care facilities.
Criticos’ two-year term as president of NYSADVS will involve advancing the organization’s mission, to offer its members professional and educational support, contact with professional leaders of health care volunteers and a means to promote volunteerism in their communities.
She has been president-elect for the past two years. She held two two-year terms as treasurer and was chair of the organization’s annual conference.
Criticos has served as director of the Friends of Strong for five years. She was assistant director of the organization for 11 years previously. The Friends of Strong is an organization of approximately 1,000 volunteers that advances the mission of Strong Memorial Hospital by providing services to patients, families and visitors, promoting the hospital in the community, and raising money to support patient care needs.
