The Breakfast Buzz from 98.9FM will hold a radiothon and holiday fun event from 6 a.m. to noon, Friday, Dec. 24, at the Holidome in Henrietta. The Christmas Spectacular will support local cancer care and research at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
“Christmas Spectacular” will feature a buffet breakfast, musical performances, face painting, arts and crafts and visits and photos with Santa Claus. The Breakfast Buzz with Kimberly and Beck will broadcast live and take donations from callers and participants. People with cancer and their families will also share stories of hope and triumph.
“The holidays are a joyous, giving time and we are grateful that The Buzz remembers people who are facing the challenges and pain of cancer,” says Richard I. Fisher, M.D., director of the Wilmot Cancecer Center.
The six-hour event is sponsored by Monroe Wheelchair, Advantage Federal Credit Union, Frontier Communications, DigiQuick and 98.9 The Buzz.
There will be performances by local bands and community groups, including Silex, Buster Chops, Dave McGrath, Simplelife, as well as photos with The Jolly Ol’ Fellow from 10 a.m. to noon, storytelling and a host of other activities. Volunteers will be taking calls and pledges at (585) 292-1310.
The Wilmot Cancer Center is Rochester’s largest cancer center dedicated to outstanding care and research. Each day, more than 400 doctors, nurses and staff work together to care for people with cancer and bring us closer to a cure.
