Families, musicians, and members of The Breakfast Buzz from 98.9FM raised $164,042 for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center on Dec. 24. The radio station’s “Christmas Spectacular” was held to support local cancer care and research.
“It was an outstanding day for everyone involved,” says Richard I. Fisher, M.D., director of the Wilmot Cancer Center. “It was amazing to see the people turn out to help our patients, doctors, nurses, scientists and staff. We are overwhelmed by The Buzz’s efforts and the support we received.”
The family-fun event featured musical performances, face painting, arts and crafts, games and visits with Santa Claus, along with a buffet breakfast and radiothon during the live broadcast by The Breakfast Buzz with Kimberly and Beck.
Throughout the six-hour event, people with cancer and their families shared their stories of hope and triumph.
The event was sponsored by Monroe Wheelchair, Advantage Federal Credit Union, Frontier Communications, DigiQuick and 98.9 The Buzz.
Several local bands performed, including Silex, Buster Chops, Dave McGrath, Simplelife and the Ryck family string trio.
