UR Eye Institute Hosts 50th Annual Ophthalmology Conference

The University of Rochester Eye Institute will host its 50th annual ophthalmology conference – “Past Reflections and New Directions” – Friday and Saturday at the Kornberg Medical Research Building at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The event will feature some of the world’s most respected ophthalmologists as guest lecturers, as well as experts from the University of Rochester, with a focus on the most advanced clinically relevant research and technology, says Steven E. Feldon, M.D., M.B.A., chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and director of the University of Rochester Eye Institute. Also this year, ophthalmic professionals will present compelling topics based on their own case work.
Topics will include findings in the areas of retina, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology and plastics, pediatric ophthalmology, and refractive surgery.
Internationally recognized leaders in ophthalmology include: Hilel Lewis, M.D., chairman of the Division of Ophthalmology and director of the Cole Eye Institute in Cleveland; Samuel Masket, M.D., clinical professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA Center for Health Sciences, and former chairman of the Cataract Special Interest Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; and Jeffrey Odel, M.D., associate clinical of professor of ophthalmology at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University and a graduate of the University of Rochester.
University of Rochester experts consist of faculty from the Eye Institute, including Deborah Friedman, M.D., Scott MacRae, M.D., Matt Gearinger, M.D., Mina Chung, M.D., and David DiLoreto, M.D., Ph.D.
