Concert for a Cure benefit August 20th at Waterstreet Music Hall

A pair of students at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry has joined in a fight against cancer. Jeff Zampi and Caesar Luo are supporting their mothers’ battles with cancer and are turning their passion for music into an event to help others who are fighting cancer. They have organized the benefit, Concert for a Cure, for 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Waterstreet Music Hall.
Zampi’s mother, Patricia of Spencerport, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma last October. Luo’s mother, Wendy, learned of her breast cancer this past February. As the women coped with treatment, Zampi and Luo felt the need to do more. Since their mothers enjoy music, they decided to organize a benefit concert.
They hope to raise more than $10,000 and proceeds will go to the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at University of Rochester Medical Center, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, and Gilda's Club of Rochester.
The future doctors, who will each perform, have lined up the following acts: Juliet Lloyd, Allison Font, Mike Zamiara along with bands Out of Line and Village Walk. Lou is a graduate of Rochester’s Eastman School Music.
Presale tickets are available online for $10, or $15 at the door. They can also be purchased at Aaron’s Alley, 662 Monroe Ave. For more information go to www.concertforacure.net.
