Rochester Community Sets Two Records at Children’s Hospital Gala

Monday, October 31, 2005

Saturday’s Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala Auction at USAirports Air Charters Aircraft Hangar, 240 Airport Way, was attended by a record 920 people and grossed a record $571,000 for the region’s only children’s hospital.

Howie Jacobson, chair of the hospital’s board and co-chair of the event, served as auctioneer during the live-auction portion of the festivities, and Nik and the Nice Guys provided musical entertainment. Attendees also participated in a silent auction for items including trips, sports packages, restaurant packages and jewelry.

Attendees also donated money to buy items from the hospital’s wish list, including a new transport bed for fragile infants on their way to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The evening included the drawing for a 2006 H3 Hummer. Marc Jaromin of WROC TV News 8 Now won the vehicle, sponsored by Valley Cadillac Hummer and ESL Federal Credit Union.

Golisano Children’s Hospital extends gratitude to everyone who attended for making it such a great event and to Jacobson and Michael Haymes and the gala committee. ESL Federal Credit Union continued as the presenting sponsor and Don Tomeny of B&L Wholesale was the event’s Honorary Chairman
