Benefit for Harbor House Home-Away-From-Home is Sept. 23

The 11th annual “And the Beat Goes On…” benefit dinner for Rochester’s Harbor House will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Locust Hill Country Club. Harbor House is a home-away-from-home for people who have traveled a long distance for UR Medicine heart and organ transplant and other critical care.
The evening includes a grazing dinner along with raffles and auctions for artwork, golf outings, trips, including a seaplane ride over the Finger Lakes, and jewelry. Funds will be used to keep the house, located in the Mount Hope Neighborhood, open and affordable for families supporting loved ones hospitalized at Strong Memorial Hospital. Organizers hope to raise at least $50,000 to help cover operating expenses for the coming year.
“Harbor House is a treasured resource for patients and families traveling long distances for specialty care offered by UR Medicine caregivers,” said Rob Kochik, president of the Harbor House Board of Directors. “Harbor House provides a comfortable and supportive environment for guests to rest and rejuvenate, which helps them be at their best while caring for their hospitalized loved one.”
WROC Ch. 8 news anchor Maureen McGuire will serve as emcee and the live auction will be led by 13WHAM-TV meteorologist and heart transplant recipient Scott Hetsko.
Tickets are $75 or $140 per couple. They are available online at brownpaperticket.com or by calling (585) 473-1779.
