Dr. Vorrasi Promoted to Associate Program Director

Dr. John VorrasiLast summer, Dr. John Vorrasi returned to his hometown and joined UR Medicine's Eastman Institute for Oral Health as an assistant professor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department.  He was recently appointed associate program director for the department's residency program.

Dr. Vorrasi completed a one-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at the University of Maryland after which he was accepted into the residency program. After completing his residency in 2013 he joined the OMFS program at Christiana Health Care System in Delaware. He served as director of Clinics, then as associate program director until 2014 and as program director in 2015.

He is closely involved with resident education and will continue working closely with the program director to enrich the OMFS program by expanding the scope of practice and strengthening relationships with the dental and medical community.

Dr. Vorrasi has a strong clinical and research interest in orthognathic and TMJ surgery and has presented several abstracts in scientific meetings during his residency training as well as during his academic time. He has contributed to the scientific literature by co-authoring book chapters and publishing manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. In addition, he has lectured extensively at scientific organizations and study clubs.

He obtained his dental degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Cum Laude, in 2008.
