Noyes Health Sponsors 9th Annual Infant Car Seat Check

Thursday, October 11, 2012

National Car Seat Safety Month is September! Each year, Noyes Hospital teams up with Cornell Cooperative Extension, New York State Troopers, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments throughout Livingston County, Arc, Chances & Changes, and the Geneseo Migrant Center to provide car seat safety program that insures children will be safe while traveling. Car seat safety check events are held monthly at various sites throughout Livingston County. Since 2004, Noyes Hospital has hosted an annual car seat safety event in September on hospital grounds. This is the busiest car seat event each year in Livingston County! On September 22, 2012, the Hospital and partners held the annual event and fit 45 children with brand new car seats. All seats are checked and corrected by trained Car Seat Safety Technicians. All technicians have to satisfactorily complete a 32-hour training course to learn how to safely install all varieties of car seats, using many different types of vehicles and safety belts. An average check of a family’s car seats takes about 20 minutes and ultimately can save a child’s life. For a calendar of car seat events in your community or for more information, please contact June Webster, Cornell Cooperative Extension: 658-3250 or Heather Wagner, Noyes Hospital: 335-4249.
