Noyes Chef Selected as Contest Finalist

Noyes Health is pleased to announce that Chris Kriner, Supervising Chef at Noyes Memorial Hospital, has been selected as a finalist in the Culinary Creation Contest for the second year in a row!  The contest, sponsored by U.S. Foodservice and Premier, Inc. is a national cooking competition.  As a Top 10 Finalist, Chris will receive an award for his culinary creation, Miel Salmon con Granos (Honey Salmon with Grains). “We are proud to recognize Chris Kriner for providing patients with healthy, delicious, high-quality entrees,” said Debby Kasper, RD, LD, Premier Manager of Clinical Nutrition. “The Culinary Creations Contest is an opportunity for Premier’s Foodservice members to honor their peers by selecting who they consider to be top chefs in the healthcare foodservice industry.”

“When I learned that Chris had been selected as a Top 10 Finalist again, I was not surprised,” said Amy Pollard, President & CEO, Noyes Health. “Chris is an exceptionally talented chef; we are extremely fortunate to have someone of Chris’ caliber working at Noyes!”

Kriner’s passion for cooking goes back to his childhood years.  “I baked my first scratch cake when I was six years old, and was working as a pastry chef/baker when I was 15.   My mother thought it was a good way to teach a child how to read and do basic math,” says Chris.  “Also, my grandfather was a huge influence.  He was an avid outdoorsman and was always trying to show me how to cook wild game so it was not so ‘gamey’ in taste.”

Chris enjoys all aspects of culinary arts, and has a widely diversified culinary background ranging from summer camps for youth all the way up to four- diamond restaurants.  Additionally, Chris has owned and operated several restaurants of his own.  “Each opportunity has presented unique challenges and rewards; every one of my culinary experiences has been a great learning opportunity for me.”
