Noyes Health Birthing Center Adds Additional Lactation Consultants

Noyes Health is pleased to announce that there are now seven certified lactation consultants in our Dansville Birthing Center. Brenda Acomb, Tania Cole, DeNae Gibson, Tammy Lapierre, Joan McAllister, Brooke Sikes, Catherine VanDerMeid, are the Noyes Health nurses that have completed forty hours of training and have passed an exam to receive certified status. Certified Lactation Consultants are professional breastfeeding specialists certified to teach mothers how to breastfeed their baby. CLC's help women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. A lactation consultant can also offer help for moms of babies who aren't gaining enough weight.
Lactation consultants assist in making accurate information available to women and offer support to help them make informed and responsible decisions regarding breastfeeding, family nutrition and family health. Noyes Health Birthing Center welcomed 310 infants into the world in 2014, up 33 births from 2013.
