Update for Strong Fertility Patients
Per NYS quarantine law, if you have traveled to a restricted state under the NY State Travel Advisory you must delay treatment for 14 days. If you have traveled outside of NYS, please contact the office prior to your scheduled appointment.
As the Coronavirus and its impact continues to evolve, your team at Strong Fertility Center remains focused on your health and safety. On April 8, 2020, the New York State Department of Health released guidance that the decision to undergo infertility treatment should be made between a patient and clinical provider.
Information regarding local cases can be found at the Monroe County COVID-19 dashboard. Older adults, those with medical comorbidities, and healthcare workers have the highest rates of COVID-19 infection, though hospitalizations and deaths have occurred in young adults with no apparent risk factors. Social distancing, masking and hand hygiene appear to reduce the number of infections. Protective measures and treatments, such as vaccines or anti-viral medications, are not yet available and are not expected for months.
At this time, we are learning how COVID-19 affects pregnancy. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists provides up to date information regarding COVID-19 in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Please be reassured that we are taking precaution to minimize your risk of infection if you start infertility treatment. These precautions include:
- Daily screening
- Physical distancing with spaced appointments
- Limiting all visits to the patient only
- Face masks for all patients and staff
- Face shields for all physicians, advanced practice providers and technicians who come within 6 feet of you to complete a procedure
- Additional cleaning
Please be aware that if you have symptoms such as a fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or sore throat or you test positive for COVID-19 your treatment cycle will be canceled for your safety. We recommend that you monitor the NY State Travel Advisory as we can not initiate a treatment cycle if you traveled to a restricted state in the past 14 days.
We understand that the uncertainty of COVID-19 may make it difficult for you to decide if you should start or continue infertility treatment. Your doctor is available for phone or video consults to help you weigh the risks and benefits of this important decision for you and your family. You can schedule a consult by calling (585) 487-3378.
We are looking forward to helping you start or expand your family when you are ready.
