Strong Fertility Counseling Services

Coping with Fertility Challenges and Treatment

At Strong Fertility Center, we believe that your emotional health is an integral part of your medical treatment and thus, offer supportive counseling sessions to patients and couples going through treatment at no additional charge. We encourage you to schedule an appointment with a fertility counselor to discuss coping strategies to reduce stress and promote wellness. Common fertility-related presenting concerns include difficulty adjusting to infertility diagnosis, coping with the stressors of treatment, communication and intimacy challenges among couples, issues related to grief and loss, and support surrounding decision-making. We can also assist with referrals to the Perinatal Consultation Clinic, for those who have questions regarding the use of psychiatric medications while trying to conceive and/or during pregnancy, and referrals for ongoing counseling/therapy services. Morning, afternoon, and evening appointments are available; sessions are held virtually over Zoom video. To request an appointment, please call the office at (585) 487-3378.

A Group Support Opportunity

Patients of Strong Fertility Center are also encouraged to join a virtual support group that meets on the second Monday of each month, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This group uses specific mind/body stress reduction and relaxation techniques to improve coping with the stressors of fertility challenges and treatment, support from others who are sharing a similar journey, and information on specific topics provided by the group facilitator. These sessions are at no additional charge to clinic patients.

If you are interested in this group, or have questions about the group, please contact Dr. Lindsay Sycz, PsyD at (585) 275-0222, or Lindsay_Sycz@urmc.rochester.edu.
