Game-Time Grub: Veggie Takes on Traditional Treats

Jan. 29, 2019

Gearing up for the big game? As you plan your Super Bowl snacks, consider adding some veggie versions that combine traditional flavors with the benefits of plant-based nutrition. Dr. Erin Campbell of the UR Medicine's Highland Weight Management & Lifestyle Center shares some tasty alternatives worth a try.hummus dip with fresh vegetables

  • Are wings your thing? Give Buffalo Cauliflower Bitesa try. These baked, meatless treats are simple to prepare and full of flavor. And you can make them mild or spiced up with extra sauce.
  • Craving a crunch? How about a batch of Sriracha Roasted Chickpeas? This crisp and spicy two-ingredient treat is most delicious right out of the oven.
  • Are you a big dipper? Whip up Spinach Ranch Dip a day or two before your bash and serve it alongside a variety of fresh and colorful crudités like carrots sticks, radishes and cucumber slices. Find the smooth and creamy secret ingredient—silken tofu—in a shelf-stable carton (not the refrigerator) with Asian foods and sauces.

Most importantly, recognize the value of having fun with family and friends as you cheer your favorite team on to victory.
