In addition to the teaching in our ambulatory clinics, a substantial amount of education occurs in community settings, including private practices, health centers, schools, and health related agencies. The Pediatric Links with the Community (PLC) training program provides a special in-depth community-based experience to residents and fellows. PLC, under the direction of Jeffrey M. Kaczorowski, M.D. and Laura Jean Shipley, M.D., originated in Rochester and is now a model of excellence that is emulated nationally. Dr. Stephen Cook M.D., M.P.H. has a grant from the Greater Rochester Health Foundation to educate community practices about obesity prevention and treatment.

Our General Pediatric Fellowship Program General Pediatrics Fellowship - University of Rochester Medical Center, the largest within the Department of Pediatrics , builds upon 40 years of experience in successfully training academic fellows. Many national leaders in pediatrics have started their careers in this program.

Constance Baldwin, Ph.D., is a nationally known educator who serves the department’s residency program and subspeciality fellowship programs as a curriculum development consultant. She also mentors junior faculty in the division and department, directs the national Educational Scholars Program, supported by the Academic Pediatric Association, and teaches courses and workshops nationwide in scientific writing.

General pediatrics faculty support departmental and university teaching programs for medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate students. Several faculty also provide faculty development within and outside the Department of  Pediatrics.
