Program Details

Nephrology FellowshipWe are dedicated to training pediatricians committed to the care of children with kidney disease and provide fellows with a full understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of disease processes. Our well-rounded, three-year Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The opportunity exists for medicine-pediatrics trained individuals to pursue a combined four-year curriculum. At the completion of this curriculum, fellows are able to become dual certified in both pediatric nephrology and adult nephrology.

Through their experiences in inpatient and outpatient settings, fellows develop proficiency in the diagnosis and management of disorders of the kidney and urologic system, hypertension, kidney replacement therapy, and fluid and electrolyte disorders in neonates, infants, children, and young adults.

Research is an integral component of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship and fellows are closely guided by URMC faculty with diverse bench, translational and clinical research interests. Our Division is currently involved in research designed to improve cardiovascular health in children with hypertension and advance medical care for children with chronic kidney disease.

Fellows are a valuable part of the Pediatric Nephrology Division and work with the team in serving as a resource to the general pediatric community.
