The Palis laboratory investigates stem and progenitor cell biology of the blood-forming system in the context of the developing organism and in the context of radiation injury. Understanding the developmental origins and response to injury of stem and progenitor cells will provide important insights into tissue maintenance and organ repair for the eventual cell-based treatment of hematopoietic disease states that afflict children.
