Golisano Children’s Hospital provides care for 74,000 children each year from the Finger Lakes region of western New York. Our 22-bed PICU / PCICU unit comprises both pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac intensive care, allowing fellows the unique opportunity to treat a variety of critical conditions in support of the medical and surgical needs of the children’s hospital.
Training also focuses on acquiring administrative skills needed to work in a multi-disciplinary unit, how to effectively teach pediatric house staff and medical students, and performance of laboratory or clinically-based research aimed at furthering the body of knowledge in the field.
Fellows earn increased autonomy in clinical responsibility as their training progresses, with ample supervision, guidance, and support. By the end of the program, fellows are well versed in managing critically ill children, conducting research and teaching.
