Current Fellows

Javed MannanThird Year Fellow

Javed Mannan, M.D., M.P.H.

Javed was born and raised in Douglaston, NY.  He completed his undergraduate degree at Boston University and received his Medical Degree and Masters of Public Health from St. Georges University, Grenada. Javed completed his pediatric residency at NY Methodist Hospital in Park Slope Brooklyn.  His research interests include hyperbilirubinemia and the late preterm infant. Outside of his fellowship, he plays electric base guitar and loves playing basketball, tennis and bike riding.

Shanley SifainThird Year Fellow

Shanley Sifain, M.D.

Shanley's hometown is Lockport, NY. She attended medical school at SUNY at Buffalo and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Her research interests include understanding how inflammation alters the developing lung. Outside of her fellowship, she enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, gardening, painting, and traveling. But most of all, she enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew, her son Liam, dog Daks and cat Frankie.

James ThomasThird Year Fellow

James Thomas, M.D.

James and his family are from Salt Lake City, Utah.  He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His research interests include neonatal resuscitation training in low resources settings and public health. Dr. Thomas loves spending time with his wife and three kids – hiking, camping, biking and rock climbing.

Ykiko Miura MDSecond Year Fellow

Yukiko Miura, M.D.

Dr. Miura was born and raised in a small town called Kota in central Japan. She graduated from University of Maine with Bachelors in Music and International Affairs, and attended medical school at American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten. She completed residency in pediatrics at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. Her research interests include understanding how maternal nutritional status affects the fetal and neonatal health. Outside of fellowship, she enjoys occasional trip home to Japan and relaxing at home with her husband and three daughters.

Laura PriceSecond Year Fellow

Laura Price, M.D.

Dr. Price is originally from the Syracuse area. She graduated from Wellesley College before returning to NY State to attend medical school at SUNY Stony Brook. She completed her pediatrics residency and chief residency here at University of Rochester Medical Center. Following residency she worked in a local private practice for two years while also working as a hospitalist in our NICU. Since then she has worked as a Newborn Nursery and NICU hospitalist full-time before finally deciding to apply for a NICU fellowship. Her research interests include neurologic development in IDM. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys skiing, biking, a variety of home improvement projects, and spending time with her nieces.

Blair GermainFirst Year Fellow

Blair Germain, M.D.

Blair was born and raised in Brooklyn NY. She graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelors degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She then attended medical school at  the American University of the Carribbean School of Medicine, Sint Marten. She completed her pediatric residency training at Goryeb Children's Hopsital in Morristown, NJ. Blair's research interests include neonatal neurology and nutrition. She loves health and fitness and her favorite thing to do outside of fellowship is go to the gym or spend time with her nephews.

 

Jonna MarretFirst Year Fellow

Jonna Marret, D.O.

Dr. Marret is from the small town of Cardwell, Missouri. She received her Bachelor of Science from Arkansas State University. She then went on to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. After medical school, she completed her pediatric residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her research interest is neonatal lung injury. Dr. Marret enjoys reading, spending time with her husband, Adam, and loves to visit family back home in Missouri and Arkansas.

GeorgeFirst Year Fellow

Koshy M George, M.B.B.S.

Dr. George is from Trivandrum, a city in South India. He attended medical school at The Government T.D. Medical College in Alappuzha, India. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. His research interests include neonatal infectious diseases. He loves to travel, watch movies, listen to music and enjoys spending time at home and traveling with his wife.
