Community Pediatrics Experiences

Fellows learn an evidence-based approach to community interventions by participation in the national award-winning Hoekelman Center (formerly known as Pediatric Links with the Community/Child Advocacy Resident Education Program, or PLC/CARE, program. Fellows participate in the 2-week Community Health Leadership Skills Block, which teaches community-based, participatory methods. Some fellows choose to conduct an advocacy, education, or research project with a local community-based organization. They can also teach residents about community pediatrics in the monthly PLC-CARE track seminar series. The PLC program gives fellows a unique opportunity to enhance their teaching and knowledge of community resources.
