Jane Tuttle has been a pediatric nurse practitioner (NP) since 1976, and a certified family NP since 1984. She has been teaching NP students since 1985, first at Yale School of Nursing, and since 1993 at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, She earned her PhD in Family Studies at the University of Connecticut in 1992. Her practice focuses on primary care of adolescents and their children.
Her research interest is adolescent health. In 2006, she completed an R21 (NIH) study of interventions designed to reduce risky behaviors in adolescents. Her current research focuses on the transition to adult health care for adolescents with special health care needs.
She is a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and was named NP of the year in Connecticut in 1990 and in New York State in 2008. She is active with several nursing and health care organizations.
