I am a neonatal nurse practitioner and the co director of baccalaureate programs in the school of nursing.
I obtained a degree in biochemistry from the University of Hull, England. Not wanting to be a clinical biochemist I came to the US on a student exchange visa and worked with persons with intellectual disabilities and mental illness for 3 years. I returned to England to go to Nursing School at what was then the largest teaching hospital in Europe. After completing that program I returned to the US and worked with children with physical and intellectual delays. I came to Rochester in 1994 was hired to work in the NICU and enrolled in the PNP program. I graduated with a PNP master's in 1999, then went on to get a post master's certificate as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in 2001. In 2007 I started the DNP program and graduated from that program in 2010.
I have a joint appointment in the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine and Dentistry and am a member of the hospital ethics committee.
I teach Patho-pharm in the undergraduate program and ethics and public policy in the master's program as well as guest lecturing in other programs.
