Anne Swantz, RN, MSN, C-PNP is the Chief Advanced Practice Officer in the Sovie Center for Advanced Practice for URMedicine in Rochester, NY. The center provides resources for ~1000 nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work in inpatient and outpatient settings within the entire UR Medicine enterprise. She also has an appointment since 1993 in the School of Nursing at the University of Rochester. Anne has been a practicing PNP since 1988, including working 3 yrs in private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently she is a practicing PNP in a pediatric primary care clinic serving an urban, lower socioeconomic population.

Anne’s focus as Senior Director of Advanced Practice is fostering the professional aspects of the APP. She counsels clinical areas regarding models of care that allow the nurse practitioner and physician assistant to work to the fullest scope of practice allowed by law. Anne is also interested in strategic planning and the utilization of APP’s in unique and innovative models. She is engaged in program development across all departments in UR Medicine. She is a liaison between the clinical APP and the Center for Research to help provide support and guidance for individuals who are interested in pursuing a research component to their role. Additionally she assists and highly recommends individuals to publish many of the great innovative practices that APP’s have implemented. This has been integral to the success of the program, and many publications are published annually from the APP group.
