Dr. LoPresti, a New York native, completed her undergraduate education at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at the City College of New York (CCNY), part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, an accelerated BS/MD program with an emphasis on community and public health. She then transitioned to New York University School of Medicine where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2015 and completed a concentration in health disparities, further developing her interests in public health, all the while developing a passion for pediatric neurosurgery. She completed neurosurgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, training at five affiliated hospitals, including Baylor St. Luke’s, the Houston VA, Texas Children’s Hospital for subspecialty training in pediatric neurosurgery, MD Anderson Cancer Center for neurosurgical oncology subspecialty training, and a Level I trauma center, Ben Taub General Hospital for subspecialty training in neurocritical care. During residency, Dr. LoPresti further grew her passion for pediatric neurosurgery, truly appreciating the relationship with patients and families, as well as developing a deep interest in the treatment of epilepsy, pediatric cerebral vascular malformations, and pediatric brain tumors, among other common pediatric neurosurgical conditions. She further nurtured her passion for public health during residency and obtained a MPH at the University of Texas School of Public Health. After residency, she completed pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Lurie Children's Hospital, Northwestern University in Chicago, IL where she developed expertise in minimally invasive, endoscopic neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and epilepsy surgery. Throughout training, Dr. LoPresti blended her clinical interests with her research interests, focusing on clinical outcomes, health services research, quality improvement, and public health research in pediatric neurosurgery.
In 2023, she joined the faculty as Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Rochester. Her clinical and research interests include pediatric neurosurgery, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, cerebrovascular disease, hydrocephalus, and public health in pediatric neurosurgery.
