Biography

Dr. John P. Goldblatt is a board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon and an Associate Professor in URMC Orthopaedics' Division of Sports Medicine. Dr. Goldblatt's specialty interests include injuries to the shoulder and knee. His treatment of shoulder problems includes arthroscopic correction of throwing injuries, rotator cuff disease, and shoulder instability. Additionally, his treatment of knee injuries includes arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and multiple ligament reconstructions (knee dislocations) including the lateral and medial collateral ligaments. He also performs articular cartilage repair, including autologous chondrocyte transplantation, and allograft osteochondral grafting for salvage of lesions of the knee cartilage. Dr. Goldblatt performs meniscus repair, and has a unique talent for meniscus transplantation. He has written several peer reviewed articles, and continues to be involved in clinical research. Dr. Goldblatt is the primary physician for the Rochester Rhinos and University of Rochester athletes, and shares responsibility for the remaining professional teams in the Rochester area.

He is an Associate Professor in the Division of Sports Medicine, and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association. Dr. Goldblatt's specialty interests include injury to the athlete's shoulder and knee. His skills include arthroscopic management of throwing injuries, rotator cuff disease, and shoulder instability. Additionally, his arthroscopy skills for knee injuries include anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, and multiple ligament reconstructions (knee dislocations). He performs meniscus repair, articular cartilage reconstruction, cartilage transplantation. He has a unique talent for meniscus transplantation. He is a primary provider for local athletic teams including Rochester Rhino Soccer, Rochester Americans AHL hockey, Rochester Red Wings AAA baseball, Rochester Rattlers and Knighthawks lacrosse, and the University of Rochester athletic teams. He has written several peer reviewed articles, and continues to be involved with clinical research.
