Ms Hickey has worked in Neurology Nursing in a variety of roles for over 30 years She has been a nurse practitioner in the Movement Disorders Unit providing care for patients with Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, dystonia, spinocerebellar ataxia, and Tourette syndrome. She also has participated in research for those with Huntington's disease and Parkinson's disease for many years.
She received her BNS from State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh in 1973, MSN from the University Of Rochester School Of Nursing in 1981, and completed a post graduate certification program at the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 1992 to obtain certification as a family nurse practitioner.
MS Hickey received national recognition for compassionate care of people with Huntington's disease. She was the recipient of the Marjorie Guthrie Award, presented by the National Huntington Disease Society of America in June, 2013.
