Biography

Kathy has worked in Neurology in clinical and leadership roles for over 25 years. As the Director for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for the department, she has developed educational program for APPs and is working with others to integrate APPs into clinical practice, utilizing a team approach.

Kathy provides clinical care to patients with intractable epilepsy at the Strong Epilepsy Center. This interdisciplinary, comprehensive program provides cutting edge therapy and treatment to those with epilepsy. She has a special interest and affection for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities who have intractable seizures.

Professional Background

Kathy has worked at the URMedicine since 1975 and in the Department of Neurology since 1987 in a variety of roles; as a staff nurse in the General Neurology Unit, nurse manager on the inpatient Neurology Unit and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, nurse practitioner in the Strong Epilepsy Center since 2001, Neurology Advanced Practice Nursing Manager, and Director of Advanced Practice Nursing for the Department of Neurology.

Kathy is active in developing and delivering neurology education to advanced practice providers locally and regionally and is working on a national level through the American Academy of Neurology on integrating APPs into clinical neurology practice. Her decades of leadership and clinical practice have positioned her to work with other leaders to develop a team-based approach to caring for patients in neurology.

Kathy provides clinical care to patients with intractable epilepsy at the Strong Epilepsy Center.

She is a Clinical Associate at the University of Rochester School of Nursing and has lectured extensively on a variety of topics related to epilepsy both regionally and nationally.
