Dr. Steven Ognibene exhibits extensive surgical expertise in management of diseases of the colon and rectum. He practices with a team of surgeons who are national leaders in robotic colon and rectal surgery. He performs numerous surgical procedures on the small and large intestine (colon), rectum and anus. Areas of specific interest include surgical management of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis colorectal cancer and anorectal disorders.

Dr. Ognibene graduated Summa Cum Laude from State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo in 1995. He graduated from medical school at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in 1999 and completed his general surgical residency at the University of Rochester / Strong Memorial Hospital in 2004. Following surgical residency Dr. Ognibene completed a fellowship in the specialty of colorectal surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, CA in 2005. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery (2006) and the American Board of Colon-Rectal Surgeons (2007). He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Community activity includes involvement in public education programs such as a J-Pouch support group for ulcerative colitis patients.
