I finished my pediatrics residency at the UofR in 1990 and joined the Rochester faculty three years later directly out of my neonatology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Soon thereafter I had the opportunity to become involved in our medical student education programs and was appointed associate clerkship director. In 2000 I became the clerkship and sub-internship director in Pediatrics and was responsible for re-designing the clerkship for the Double-Helix Curriculum. Throughout the years I have had numerous opportunities to work with the Dean's office on curriculum development, student assessment, admissions, and promotions/review.
In 1998 I became the medical director of the Neonatal Transport Team and I spearheaded the re-design of the system to a predominantly nurse-respiratory therapist model. I have continued to oversee that program and have trained over 90 nurses and respiratory therapists with advanced skills and knowledge in neonatology.
