Mark Edward Mapstone, Ph.D.

Biography

Research

Dr. Mapstone studies cognitive function in health and disease. His research addresses mechanisms of cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and ways to detect these cognitive changes as early in the course of the disease as possible.

His current work in this area focuses on blood based and electrophysiological biomarker discovery for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. His research also addresses cognitive effects of treatment for neurological diseases such as deep brain stimulation, stem cell therapy and cognitive training. Dr. Mapstone is a clinical neuropsychologist and his research is integrated into his clinical work.
