Professional Background

Laura Cardella, MD, completed her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2003, earning Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She completed her general Psychiatry Residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she was chief during her final year. Dr....
Laura Cardella, MD, completed her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2003, earning Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She completed her general Psychiatry Residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she was chief during her final year. Dr. Cardella returned to Rochester to pursue her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, and then joined the faculty at URMC. She is board certified in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Cardella is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Her top two passions are medical education and clinical care. She teaches in all four years of the URSMD curriculum and GME programs. Dr. Cardella is the Director of the Psychiatry Clerkship and Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry. She also serves as the Medical Director of Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness, Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services, where she also provides clinical care to children and adolescents.
