Biography

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pediatric Diabetes, both Type 1 and Type 2. I have an interest in Insulin Pumps and the Continuous Glucose Sensor and have been able to care for infants, children and adolescents using this technology.

Professional Background

I have worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Rochester, Golisano Childrens Hospital, since 1994. I have had a special interest in using insulin pumps and glucose sensors in children, adolescents, and young adults.

Research

While working at Yale University, I participated in the ten year DCCT study (Diabetes Control and Complications Trial) which made ground breaking discoveries about the prevention of the secondary complications of diabetes with improvement in blood glucose control.

I was the co-PI for the STAR 3 study, sponsored by Medtronic, which demonstrated the improvement in blood glucose control, by both children and adults, when combining a glucose sensor with the insulin pump.
