Dr. Swanger-Gagne is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Institute for the Family in the Psychiatry Department and Pediatrics Department. She received her PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed specialty training in pedi...
Dr. Swanger-Gagne is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Institute for the Family in the Psychiatry Department and Pediatrics Department. She received her PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed specialty training in pediatric school psychology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She completed an internship focused in family therapy at the Kennedy Krieger Institute of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and then went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in primary care-family psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She specializes in collaborative integrated care and family-centered care for children, youth, and families. She sees youth and family with academic and behavioral challenges and also provides medical family therapy to children and families with medical conditions. Within Pediatric Rheumatology, Dr. Swanger-Gagne is the pediatric psychologist within the Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Program, an intensive outpatient pain program. Her current clinical focus is the treatment of chronic pediatric pain. Dr. Swanger-Gagne collaborates and consults with various community and educational programs, such as school districts. She teaches and supervises trainees in the family therapy training program and has been published in School Mental Health and School Psychology Journals.
